This was a clip episode but it wasn't the actual issue with the episode. The ending was totally pointless. It made Matlock look like an old doddering fool, and technically his "trusted" associates were still at the mercy of their kidnapper.

A Complete Waste of Time

Ridiculous, inane and non-sensical. First Michelle isn't the least suspicious about a strange man being in Ben's locked office. Then Tyler, who knows something is wrong, just walks in and lets the guy get the drop on him. At least they let Don Knotts leave; more than 5 seconds of him is unbearable. Then the whole show is a long string of flashbacks, even when the guy finally tells them why he's there, we have to watch half of that episode again, and hear the whole story again, which wasn't that great to begin with. And suddenly they convince the guy his brother actually was guilty, with no argument at all. The last 30 seconds when Ben finally shows up was the best part of the show because it was funny.
