Ted Takes Home the Bacon
Hitchcoc18 February 2017
Ted Baxter pretty much buys himself a Teddy Award. He does all kinds of questionable things on the air to catch the eyes of the Twin Cities media. When he prays on the air, there is a great scene with Mary interpreting what Lou means. Lou is so angry, fire is coming out of his ears. Ted wins the award and then becomes twice as insufferable as he was before. But his success is short lived because there are no job offers and little praise. The show ends with a visit from the person named in the title. Of course, Ted takes the opportunity to turn a potentially fine moment into a painful one. There are some great moments here, though it is an uneven episode.

Straight-forward light comedy episode.

Ted lobbies hard to win a Teddy award. There's a great scene with Mary stepping in to diffuse Lou's anger. The running time is padded out with pompous speeches from Ted.

Too bad Gordy seems to have now left WJM and instead we have the bland Andy Rivers.

I'm not American so Walter Cronkite doesn't mean much to me but I expect his cameo must have lifted the episode in 1970s America.
