Don't Ignore the Miracles (1969)
Robert Young: Dr. Marcus Welby
Quotes
-
Dr. Steven Kiley : At her age, premature birth is always a possibility. And there's the danger of an abnormal baby.
Dr. Marcus Welby : The greatest danger is an illegal abortion. Not only physically. It's the emotional damage that I'm worried about.
-
Dr. Marcus Welby : Hasn't it occurred to you that you're a very lucky woman? I know many childless couples who think it's too late for them. They'd consider a baby a wonderful gift.
Claire : You make it sound like a miracle. Well, I don't want a miracle - I want an abortion.
-
Dr. Marcus Welby : Y'know, Claire, you amaze me. You worship youth, but you're too old to adapt to a new situation.

[last lines]
Dr. Steven Kiley : Boy, I feel tired.
Dr. Marcus Welby : I don't. Never do when I'm faced with a challenge.
Dr. Steven Kiley : How many deliveries do you average?
Dr. Marcus Welby : Oh, in a normal year, 40 maybe 45.
Dr. Steven Kiley : How many years in practice, 30?
Dr. Marcus Welby : Twenty-eight.
Dr. Steven Kiley : That makes 1,120 babies at 40 a month. If it's 45, add another 140. Like a production line.
Dr. Marcus Welby : No, not like a production line. Of course, after 1.120 babies you can fall into the trap of taking birth for granted. But that would be a mistake, because every time it's a miracle.
Dr. Steven Kiley : [Smiles and nods]
Dr. Marcus Welby : Ah, isn't this a fine morning? C'mon, I'll put you to bed.
