- While Malcolm battles a yearbook photographer to get a good photo, Hal, Lois, and Dewey intercept a scholarship check addressed to Malcolm and try to rationalize spending the money; Reese goes back to work delivering meat.
- After Malcolm receives a $10,000 dollar grant, Hal and Lois decide they would be better handlers of the money. They also don't share with Malcolm that he received the check. They intend on paying Malcolm back before he starts college so they can get the rusted pipes fixed in the house (Lois) and a down payment on a new boat (Hal)! One of the children find out about the entire scheme and wants his cut for a new Rolex, he deserves.
Meanwhile, Malcolm tries to convince the class picture photographer, he made a mistake taking his picture as a guy who doesn't care what others think of him and wants his picture retaken.
Reese makes a love connection at a retirement home and new friends/enemies.
