Magnum in a jam

The literally-titled 'Try to Remember' puts Magnum in a dire situation right out of the gate; the Ferrari's trashed, he has no memory of how it happened, and the girl he was hired to find is dead and both the police and members of her family are breathing down his neck. There's even a recurring 'Nam flashback to top it off. What makes all of this really unsettling is the frustration of much-needed memories not coming back. That's a scary feeling. But what makes it cool is how this conundrum is wrapped up in a satisfying resolution.

Our hero gets the last laugh, and it's a great journey to that point.

A battered and bruised Magnum battles with abnesia

Following a near fatal cliff dive in Robin Masters' Ferrari, a badly bruised Magnum desperately tries to recall the events leading up to his predicament.

The excellent Kwan Hi Lim plays Lieutenant Yoshi Tanaka for the first time in this episode. He's great and there's instant chemistry between the lieutenant and Magnum.

Whilst the denouement is predictable, this is an enjoyable yarn and John Hillerman is on top form.

Like a mystery movies.

Try to Remember is like one of those 1970's Sunday night mystery movies. Magnum wakes up with out remembering anything from a car accident. Needs Rick and T C's help. Rick comes threw big time. There is flash backs, clues and gaps which Magnum must figure out. How will Magnum get out of this one. A nasty Magnum solution. A memorable ending. Try to Remember has a memorable ending. 9 stars.

Kwan Hi Lim as Lieutenant Yoshi Tanaka

Kwan Hi Lim makes his debut as Lieutenant Yoshi Tanaka where Magnum tries to remember but he can't because of suspected amnesia. I'm quite enjoying watching Magnum, P. I. for daytime television, along with Father Brown.

Anyway, Try to Remember sees Magnum having flashbacks big time and you wonder if he's lost his marbles or not. But it turns out Magnum is quite sane after all.

Anyway, what else, I love the sun swept beach and street shots in Magnum, and I also like the night shots. There should have been a spin-off called Magnum Nights with the supporting cast solving crimes at night and other supernatural phenomena.
