The opening scene is supposedly set in the Texas hill country. While the shooting location could pass for some places on the mainland, it bears no resemblance to the supposed location. The hill country is thickly wooded, riddled with tightly packed hills and valleys, and has a number of river and creeks running through it. The peaks of many of the hills are dotted with truly palatial multi-million dollar homes.
Also, the only desert in Texas is a small patch at the southern edge of New Mexico towards El Paso, some 400 miles west of the hill country. As for a man with a broken leg "dragging himself across the border" to Mexico, that represents a crawl of at least 175 miles. It should be noted that the great majority of the scenes from the mythical Texas desert seen in western movies are filmed in California.

When TC is at the piano speaking, behind his left shoulder, someone is moving out of the way of the shot behind the white half wall.
