Magnum, P.I.

Edit

Continuity

When Higgins is going over the results of his ballistics tests, he states there are 12, 30 cal pellets in that particular shotgun shell, but when he pours them into the bowl, there are 14. In addition, on the 2nd test shot target, as he's explaining how it shows 12 individual missiles, there are 15 holes in the face of the target (plus several outside the face).

There also doesn't appear to be any holes in the 2nd target in the wide shot, and if you look closely, it also looks to be a different target altogether (white circle on the face in the wide shot/letters & numbers on closeup).

Factual errors

Some have labeled a Higgins stating there are 12 pellets in a 00 buckshot shell an error. Commonly, there are 8-9 pellets, each .33 caliber. There are some 12 pellets 00 buck shells.

The true error in this scene is Higgins stated there are 12 pellets but empties a shotgun shell, leaving 14 pellets in the ceramic dish, not 12. 14 pellets would be a #1 buckshot shell and not a 00 buckshot shell.

Revealing mistakes

During Erin's "take two" on her audition video, her camera shot clearly moves on her TV as if the camera was being operated by someone, but Erin was alone and away from the camera controls.
The "Paradise Found" helicopter was a Bell LongRanger II (206L2), but when TC was talking to the pilot it was seen in the air as another MD/Hughes 500 (like TC's).

Miscellaneous

The crosshairs on a rifle sight do not meet in the middle. Crosshairs on rifle sights always meet in the middle.

Crew or equipment visible

She unplugs the phone from the jack, but the jack has no wire going to it. Phone can't work without it.

Errors in geography

In a Viet Nam flashback, a kookaburra can be heard. Kookaburras are Australian birds not found in Viet Nam.

Character error

Higgins tells Magnum that a double-ought buck shell has 12 30-caliber pellets. Actually, a double-ought load is 7-9 33-caliber pellets. 30-caliber buckshot pellets are #1 buck.
When Magnum is looking through the weapons on the wall, he wipes them down to remove his fingerprints. Then the last one he touches, he wipes down and then puts back with his bare fingers.
