Did you know
- TriviaWhile Magnum and Higgins are trapped in the elevator, Magnum accuses Higgins of being Robin Masters and the unseen writer is an actor which Magnum suggests is Orson Welles. An inside joke since (until his passing during season six, in October of 1985) Orson Welles provided the voice of Robin Masters.
- GoofsMagnum accuses Higgins of being Robin Masters, saying that the voice of Masters is an actor that sounds like Orson Welles. In an earlier episode involving a treasure hunt, Magnum states that he accompanied Masters on a trip to this remote location so that he could work out the locations for a book about buried treasure. Despite the clues having been destroyed, he worked out the locations by reading the book and retracing the steps that he and Masters took. Either his companion was Masters, or an extremely convincing actor who took such good notes that Masters could imagine what things looked like, which is wildly improbable. Odds are that if the voice of Robin Masters Orson Welles had not passed away during the sixth season, the Higgins as Masters thread - one that runs to the end of the series - would not have been developed.

What the show is all about
This episode represents what the show is all about. Playful banter. Childish behavior. Danger. Mystery. Silliness. Friendship. That all sounds cheesy in print but the back and forth between Higgins and Magnum has always been a staple of the series and this ep really brings that into focus. Their continuous back and forth, upping the ante with each childish prank until they find themselves in a life and death situation in an elevator. And after seasons of speculation, it's great to see Magnum finally accuse Higgins and being Mr Masters all along. Now I haven't seen the rest of the series yet, but somehow I doubt that'll ever be resolved. Because if I've learned anything from Magum so far it's that not all cases get a finite conclusion.
