The scene opens with Jaime in a hospital bed after the "the Procedure". She would be recovering from the effects of anesthesia. In this scene the head of the bed is elevated, the bed itself is elevated, and all the bedside rails are down. A patient would never be left this way in a hospital bed. Most especially after they have had anesthesia. There are four rails on a hospital bed. The only one that should be down, in this case, would be the one where Paul is sitting. Hospitals and especially nurses are very vigilant about this issue. Patient falls have been greatly reduced in the last two decades. And that's because of aggressive enforcement of fall plans, that are put together by committees within the hospitals to reduce/prevent falls.
