Though Kaqwani is a fictional indigenous group of Arctic people, this episode is likely to be set in Alaska due to totem poles being a prop for the fictional Alaskan Native reservation.
The timber wolf in this episode was temporarily borrowed from the Greater Vancouver Zoo. Its trainers were employees of Action Animals and Animal Actors of Hollywood as well as Birds and Animals Unlimited.
The sled dogs in this episode were owned by Henry Winkler's second cousin Gary Winkler. Gary keeps Alaskan Malamutes Siberian Huskies on his ranch in Bellingham, Washington whenever they were not being used for any cinematic or television production. Many of them would be wolf-dog hybrids.
The totem poles shown are in Stanley Park, in the city of Vancouver, BC., Canada.
In this episode, MacGyver helps Floyd Red Crow Westerman's character who is named Jamie Two Eagles. Earlier in MacGyver's 8th episode (entitled Eagles) of season two, MacGyver's main focus is also helping two eagles. This time however, the two eagles are actually birds.
