The Wrong: MacGyver meets these terrorists accidentally. By running out of gas within walking distance.
Happens to me all the time: running out of gas, walking to a small service station cum diner and as a result finding myself tied up in a cellar holding a grenade with the pin out. Not! I've been driving since 1977 and never ran out if gas. MacGyver blames Pete, but one of the first things I look at before driving is the gas hand. Am I smarter than MacGyver? Then why am I watching him on TV rather than he, me?
Meeting terrorists at a roadside Cafe has happened on "Mannix" and "Mission: Impossible." In the former it was an accident. In the latter the I:M force found out about the terrorists on the self-destructing tape and set up the meeting.
MacGyver could have been sent out after the terrorists' warning. Instead, the terrorists JUST HAPPEN to have an accidental meeting with the one person in the known universe who could stop them. It certainly makes one believe in God. More than one can believe in writers.
After that accidental meeting, though, everything is like a perfect MacGyver episode, giving our boy plenty of opportunities to work his magic.
