- Resigned to staying for his term of service, Klinger writes home about his job, which includes appeasing the officers' eccentricities. A home-bound patient says goodbye to the slow-witted buddy who saved his life in battle.
- All the 4077 love to write home; this time, Klinger writes to Uncle Abdul. In OR, Potter mentions the difference between the World Wars and the Korean "police action." There are no snappy slogans and no "Over There." Hawkeye gets a letter from his father with a joke which he claims is the world's funniest clean joke. BJ says he is not impressed. Father Mulcahy writes a Korean War song--the ditty needs work. Hawkeye gets really ticked off when BJ has the entire camp laughing over his father's joke. BJ claims he tells it better. A mentally "slow" GI, Eddie, is looking for Cpl. Hank Fleming, his friend and mentor. The doctors are amazed that the U.S. Army would allow a private like Eddie in a combat zone; but, according to Dave, a member of his unit, Eddie is a very good soldier as long as he is not left alone. It was Eddie who bandaged Hank and then carried him to safety, saving Hank's life. Buddies like that are hard to find. Poor Margaret: her foot locker has a busted lock. She wants a new one but Klinger cannot get her a replacement unless it has been damaged in combat. Klinger sits unwillingly atop Sophie in the morning light wearing his CO's uniform so Potter can paint them. Later, Klinger agrees to go duck hunting with Chuckles, Abercrombie & Fitch for $20.00. They leave before Margaret explodes. Dave readily promises Hank and Eddie he will "buddy up" with Eddie when Hank is sent home. The doctors are impressed with the 3 young men. After a very dismal hunt, Margaret grabs the shotgun: her foot locker has been attacked. She "hopes" she will not have to use the same method to replace the Company Clerk. Hawkeye and BJ argue over who is funnier. Klinger rolls his eyes and tells his Uncle Abdul it is no wonder he cannot get a Section 8. Klinger is not special: everyone at the 4077 is crazy!—LA-Lawyer
- All the 4077 love to write home; this time, Klinger writes to Uncle Abdul. In OR, Potter mentions the difference between the World Wars and the Korean "police action." The reasons why US is in Korea are not as clear. There are no snappy slogans and no "Over There." Hawkeye gets a letter from his father with a joke which he claims is the world's funniest clean joke. BJ says he is not impressed and calls it nothing to write to Korea about. A little guy performs for the circus boss. He gets on top of a pole, leaps off and flaps his arms like crazy. The guy flies all over the circus (flying by flapping his arms) and lands in front of the boss, asking for his opinion. The boss says "Thats all you do? Bird Imitations?" Hawkeye gets really ticked off when BJ has the entire camp laughing over Hawkeye's father's joke. BJ claims he tells it better (maybe its the funny mustache).
Father Mulcahy writes a Korean War song (after all the chatter in the OR about this war not being distinctive enough)--the ditty needs work. A mentally "slow" GI, Eddie (Richard Lineback), is looking for Cpl. Hank Fleming (Alexander Petale), his friend and mentor. Back in basic, Hank was responsible for Eddie. He helped him on tests and kept him out of trouble. The doctors are amazed that the U.S. Army would allow a private like Eddie in a combat zone; but, according to Dave, a member of his unit, Eddie is a very good soldier as long as he is with Hank. It was Eddie who bandaged Hank and then carried him to safety, saving Hank's life. Buddies like that are hard to find. But the day after tomorrow, Hank goes home.
They leave before Margaret explodes about her footlocker. Winchester misses twice, before he hits a pigeon who falls on a landline. Winchester and Klinger both run away, post haste.
Dave readily promises Hank and Eddie he will "buddy up" with Eddie when Hank is sent home. Hank tells Eddie that he is good and tough and a great soldier. The doctors are impressed with the 3 young men. After a very dismal hunt, Margaret grabs Winchester shotgun: & shoots her footlocker and claims that "it sacrificed itself to save her from an enemy sniper". She "hopes" she will not have to use the same method to replace the Company Clerk.
Hawkeye and BJ argue over who is funnier. BJ has a certain panache, but Hawkeye does the flapping bit a lot better. Klinger rolls his eyes and tells his Uncle Abdul it is no wonder he cannot get a Section 8. Klinger is not special: everyone at the 4077 is crazy! To top BJ, Hawkeye starts to grow a mustache.
