The Wayne Newton Show
kgraovac9 November 2023
When Lucy loses Mooney's sheepdog Nelson (he must have survived the move from Danfield okay), her search leads her to a singing farm boy, whom she helps secure a recording contract.

Twenty-three year old Wayne Newton had already performed on The Jackie Gleason Show but this was his first performance on a scripted TV series. Lucy must have been very impressed with his talent because she basically throws the whole episode his way. It plays like a cross between Hee-Haw and The Hollywood Palace.

Mister Lucille Ball, Gary Morton appears as.... Mr. Morton, head of the Morton Record Company.

In the '90s, Nick at Nite used a clip of Newton performing the "Bessie the Heifer" song as part of their "Classic TV Moments" promos.

Enjoyable only for Wayne Newton fans - otherwise nothing impressive here.
