Davy Jones in "Love and the Elopement"
kevinolzak18 January 2014
"Love and the Elopement" is a very slight tale featuring former Monkey Davy Jones as potential groom Rodney, who climbs through the wrong bedroom window, ending up in bed with pretty Jane (Karen Valentine). Rodney confesses that he's a klutz, while Jane professes to be very much the same, suggesting he call his fiancée Alice (Jaclyn Carmichael) to explain what happened, only to have her hang up on him- twice. Jane's father (Arch Johnson) then enters, assumes the body hidden under the covers is Jane's boyfriend Harold, and proceeds to thank him for eloping with his daughter! (would have saved him a ton of cash). Alice shows up at the window making demands, leaving poor innocent Rodney feeling none too sure about their future together; of course, the encouragement received from Jane ensures that the two will be seeing each other again. Karen Valentine was currently starring in ROOM 222, while the newly unemployed Jones would soon release his first (and only) solo album after The Monkees' demise (he later appeared in the 1973 episode "Love and the Model Apartment").
