The "Aaar matey" pirate patois that we all recognize was probably rare among real pirates. It seems to have been invented for the character of Long John Silver (played by Robert Newton) in the pirate adventure movie Treasure Island (1950). Newton reputedly based this style on an exaggeration of his native southwest England accent.
The pirate, Alonso P. Tucker claims to have left Earth in a spaceship manned by Tellurians, not in an Earthship. The word Tellus (base word of Tellurians) is actually Latin for Earth, which would indicate that he did in fact leave Earth in an "Earthship".
Albert Salmi would appear once again as Captain Alonzo P. Tucker in the Lost in Space (1965) episode Treasure of the Lost Planet (1967).
The background score heard during the projections of the "forecaster" watched by the Robinson family and Dr. Smith is actually incidental music lifted from Bernard Herrmann's score for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.
