The Ranger stops a runaway wagon loaded with big rocks by roping a vertical post on it. In real life, the wagon's huge inertia (relative to Silver's ability to dig his hoofs into the ground) would have either snapped off the post, or dragged Silver and the Masked Man along.
The rifle that was used to kill Max Sunday was a short magazine Lee Enfield bolt action rifle and is even identified as such. More specifically the rifle used was an SMLE No. 1 Mk. III chambered for the .303 British cartridge. The SMLE No. It did not enter service in the British military until 1904. The simplified and improved No. 1 Mk. III did not enter service until 1915. In addition sheriff Larson was able to ascertain that Max Sunday was murdered with an Enfield rifle which would have been impossible for him to know.
As sheriff Larson is questioning Will Donavan about the glove found at the scene of the crime he mistakenly says "You'll have to do better Will. That gun was found at Flat rock near Max Sunday's body". He should have said that the glove was found instead of the gun was found.
