This episode had a potentially interesting sub-conflict of Clark being nominated for an award that Lois is usually nominated for, and a fun concept for villain. But on the whole, nothing really stood out about this one, to be honest. It was certainly good overall, it just...didn't really grab me in any way.
It did serve to demonstrate why Lois isn't my favorite character, though! She's REALLY petty and upset about not be nominated. It just seems to exemplify her self-centered tendencies. Not saying I hate Lois or anything, and on the other hand, she did kick some people's butts in this episode, which was really cool to see!
Also, while it feels like this episode gave a little bit of attention to Jimmy and Superman, it still wasn't quite enough. It looked like Jimmy was really on to something for a while there, and it would've been cool to see him be a major player for once and not just somebody who just drops in to tell Clark and Lois some interesting fact and doesn't do much else. And Superman...yeah, this show doesn't really have enough of Clark's Super side from what I've seen so far, and this is coming from a HUGE fan of the mild-mannered reporter identity.
Overall, a good episode that just wasn't THAT interesting to me. Maybe it focused too much on the annoying Lois for my tastes, but then again, I loved Requiem for a Superhero, so go figure, right? Maybe the real problem is that I just don't feel like Clark did anything particularly unique or special in this episode. Or maybe the conflict just wasn't quite interesting enough. Oh well. It was still pretty good overall, I guess.
