- Doc Baker realizes that something is wrong with the morphine in his pouches and he tells Nels that the company is very responsible and loyal and so something had to happen to it when it came here to Walnut Grove. He says no one messed with in the store and he had Albert drop it off for him. Doc Baker realizes that Albert must have switched the morphine for powdered sugar. He tells Charles to watch for symptoms of addiction. Charles finds the morphine in Albert's shoes and gives it back to Doc Baker. When Albert goes looking for it, Charles confronts him but Albert says he only did it once and he's sorry and it won't happen again. He lied and he has to go through a major major withdrawal to get off the morphine. Some of this episode is quite graphic where he vomiting up tons of grossness during the withdrawal.—Anonymous

Charles keeps believing that time in Walnut Grove has a positive effect on Albert and bringing him back in the right path. However, his optimism is shattered when Doctor Baker points out Albert as the culprit after his latest shipment of morphine goes missing. Charles confronts Albert and he will admit to stealing the Morphine and recognize that his drug addiction is bad for him. Charles believes that the worst is finally over, but Albert goes through the nightmare of withdrawal, Charles finally realizes that the problem is more important than he first expected and the most difficult experience of his life. Charles hangs on and helps Albert through is ordeal as best as he can, expecting his son to recover from the drug addiction. All the while he is receiving good advice from the Doctor on what to expect next. Finally, Albert recovers from his addiction and Charles decides to go back home with Albert.
We also learn through Laura's narration that Albert is too return to Walnut Grove a few years later as the town's Doctor. It turns out that Charles and him had visited a medical college on the way home and Albert decided to become a Doctor.
On a lighter side of this episode, little Jason Carter convinces the Doctor and his parents that he needs to get glasses, but not because his eyesight is weak, more to appear smart in class and impress his schoolmates.
