Johnny O'Rourke is with Doc Holliday at all times learning to emulate the life style of Doc. Doc likes having Johnny around to tend to him and bird dog the gaming tables to increase Doc's winnings. Johnny is engaged to Marcia who wants him to take a regular job so they can marry and settle down. Seeing Doc's big winnings has changed Johnny's attitude. He wants a life of gambling and Doc's anti-marriage attitude reinforces that. Realizing Johnny won't change, Marcia decides to leave him and Tombstone. On the way to the stage Earp stops her and upon hearing the problem tells her to give Johnny another chance. Earp tries to convince Doc to help but Doc won't listen. Johnny steals a poker game with miners from Johnny Ringo for Doc who cleans up. As Ringo arrives, Doc lets Johnny O'Rourke take over the cards. Ringo's henchman Schneider sits in as well. When Johnny wins, Schneider makes it appear Johnny cheated. When threatened with a knife, Johnny shoots Schneider in the shoulder. Ringo is furious giving Earp and Doc a tough job preventing a shootout between the Johnnys and Marcia's Johnny's death.
