- Kitty Bannerman: [On the front porch talking to Wally while Ward Cleaver is waiting in car off-camera] You said you didn't have a car, Wally. Is that one of your friends waiting to drive us to the dance?
- Wally Cleaver: You know, I never thought much about it before, but I guess he is probably one of the best friends I got.
- Ward Cleaver: Beaver, do you have any idea why Wally would make up a thing like this basketball practice?
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: I guess it's because it isn't football season.
- [first lines]
- June Cleaver: [the family is seated at the dinner table] Beaver, you're storing food in your cheek there, like a squirrel.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: Sure, Mom. By doing it this way, I get more mileage out of one mouthful.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: Did you stay for the whole dance?
- Wally Cleaver: Sure, I did.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: Gee, I thought when that girl found out you were nothin', she might sock you or somethin'.
- Wally Cleaver: Nobody socked anybody. I had a real good time.
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: Ya did?
- Wally Cleaver: Sure. Everything turned out great, on account of she turned out to be a nothing, too.
- Ward Cleaver: [Wally has lied to his parents about having a basketball practice on Saturday night in order to get out of taking Kitty Bannerman to a dance and being exposed as a fraudulent playboy. The Cleavers found out he lied, but when questioned, Wally refused to come clean so Ward asks Beaver for help] Beaver, do you have any idea why Wally would make up a thing like this basketball practice?
- Theodore 'Beaver' Cleaver: [Beaver knows why Wally lied but he is being a loyal little brother by not telling his parents] I guess 'cause it isn't football season.
