- Ward is happy to write a letter of recommendation to his old fraternity, Alpha Kappa, when Wally decides to attend his dad's alma mater, State College; but Wally finds himself in a real dilemma when he's told that Alpha Kappa has a bad reputation and even Eddie Haskell doesn't want to join it.—shepherd1138
- Although they are not placing any pressure on Wally on where he will go to college, Ward and June are happy to hear that he has chosen to attend Ward's alma mater, State. Eddie, too, decides to attend State with him. Eddie believes that the college itself and the classes are not the most important aspects of their post-secondary education, but rather the fraternity. Eddie's assertion makes Wally at least think about joining a fraternity. He learns that his father pledged Alpha Kappa, Ward who feels that it is still as good a fraternity as any. After hearing the distinguished list of past pledges, Wally decides he will try to pledge Alpha Kappa as well. Ward offers to write Wally a letter of recommendation, and reluctantly offers the same for Eddie, despite Eddie not having even considered Alpha Kappa before Wally told him about it. But when Wally and Eddie run into Chuck Bradford, a State student, they get a much different picture of Alpha Kappa. In Chuck's words, Alpha Kappa is a pig house. Wally and Eddie have to decide what to do about pledging Alpha Kappa, especially in light of Chuck's assertion versus Ward's letter of recommendation. Wally and Eddie take divergent paths, but later also get a clearer and more accurate picture of Alpha Kappa from someone who should know.—Huggo
