Jerry Mathers and Wendy Winkelman in Leave It to Beaver (1957)

Goofs

The Black Eye

Leave It to Beaver

Edit

Continuity

While looking for Beaver and Violet, Ward and Mr. Rutherford stop at the empty lot with the Red Cross billboard. The "Fairlane 500" emblem on the tailfin of the car is covered with tape. Later, after they found the children and Ward is taking Beaver home, the tape is gone and the emblem is clearly visible.
From one scene to the next, Violet Rutherford's "missing" teeth (actually covered by black chewing gum) change from the side of her mouth to her front teeth.
About five minutes into the episode, when Ward is talking to Beaver about coming to him or June with problems, like for instance, being punched in the eye, near the end of the talk Ward places his hands gently on Beaver's legs to emphasize a point. Near the end of the scene, the camera angle shifts from looking over Beaver's shoulder to a shot looking over Ward's shoulder and Mr. Cleaver's hands are no longer on Beaver's legs, but are now resting on Ward's lap, instead.

Factual errors

When Fred Rutherford is visiting with Ward, he mentions "both" of his sons receiving scholarship offers and boasts of his daughter's achievements. There is no mention of his son, Clarence ("Lumpy"), who eventually becomes a prominent character in the series. Since Lumpy is 13, the same age as Wally, he would be too young to have been offered a scholarship.
When Fred sees Violet's "missing" teeth, he exclaims, "My gosh! Her teeth! Eight hundred dollars' worth of braces!" But Violet is too young to have even started wearing braces, let alone be done with them already.

Miscellaneous

Hugh Beaumont's opening teaser in season one's episodes is absent in this episode.
