Ward and June leave Wally in charge at home and all is well until neighbor Mrs. Murdock drops by and asks Wally to take her son, Chuckie, to buy new shoes. But Wally goes ice skating with Eddie Haskell instead and turns little Chuckie over to Beaver. When Beaver loses Chuckie in the shoe store, Wally soon learns an important lesson in responsibility.—shepherd1138

Ward and June are away for the morning. So when a frantic Mrs. Murdock from across the street, she who has to run an emergency errand of her own, comes by looking for June to take her adolescent son Chuckie downtown to buy a new pair of shoes, Mrs. Murdock gets Wally to agree to do it before Wally even knows what hit him. When Eddie comes by to remind Wally that they are supposed to go ice skating together, Beaver, feeling grown up enough to do it, offers to take Chuckie to the shoe store. Wally begrudgingly accepts Beaver's offer. On the most part, Beaver is able to handle the rambunctious Chuckie, except whenever Chuckie threatens to scream if he doesn't get his way. But Beaver feels responsible for the problem when he loses Chuckie, or more precisely when Chuckie runs off. Although Chuckie is all right (another clerk in the store who recognizes Chuckie drives him home), Beaver has to figure out what to do. After all is said and done, who, if anyone, is to blame for this mishap?—Huggo
