When both Wally and Beaver ask for a ride to nearby locales, Ward refuses to drive them and tries to extol the virtues of walking. Later, with the parents and Wally away, Beaver and Gilbert, alone at the Cleaver house and talking about driving, decide to get behind the wheel of Ward's car and pretend that they're driving somewhere. The pretend turns into reality when Beaver accidentally releases the emergency brake, and the car rolls out onto the street. As Gilbert abandons Beaver, and with a line-up of cars trying to get past Ward's car, Wally returns home. Knowing that there is a key under the driver's side car mat, Wally drives the car back into the driveway. Beaver's relief turns into concern for Wally when two policemen arrive on the scene and Wally gets a ticket for driving without a license. Despite Ward's disappointment in the boys for their predicament, they all hope they get an understanding judge. Through the process, Ward and his sons learn that things are a lot different than when Ward was their age.
