Yule never leave.

Warning: Spoilers
After losing my DVD of the Comedy group The League of Gentlemen's BBC Christmas special last year just before the 25th of December,I decided that for this year,I would make up for my earlier mistake,by watching the residence of Royston Vasyley's festive celebrations, just before the never leaving yuletide season begins.

View on the special:

Being given the opportunity to not use a canned laughter track for the first time,co-writer/(along with cast members Mark Gatiss,Jeremy Dyson and Reece Shearsmith)director Steve Bendelack soaks the special in a tremendous Horror atmosphere. Giving each of the stories contrasting atmospheres,Bendelack gradually burns all of the colourful Christmas decorations,as the special reaches its Gothic Horror peak.

Filling every corner of the teleplay with excellent nods to all mediums of Horror fiction, the writers smartly make sure that the references always stay in the background,so that the delightfully deranged characters are allowed to take center stage.

Along with giving each of the stories a bubbling Gothic atmosphere, which allows for the unleashing of deadly stings, the writers also show a deadly eye for attacking the darkest Black Comedy veins, which along with emphasizing the chilling Horror mood, also makes this a special that " Yule" never want to forget.
