Detective Briscoe tells the mother of a suspect that if her son took an unlicensed, loaded handgun outside into a public area he could get charged with a class A felony and go to prison for seven years. This is not true, carrying a concealed, loaded handgun without a permit is criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony. It carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years in prison and a maximum of 15 years.
Briscoe and Curtis handle blood-stained evidence in the bus terminal bathroom without gloves. Even a rookie cop wouldn't do that.
Probation records are not "confidential by law." Briscoe and Curtis certainly would be authorized to access them to get information on a suspect.
