- CuriosidadesA bail surety hearing, also known as a bail sufficiency hearing, is a way for an ADA to ensure that the funds being put up for bail are not illicit proceeds from criminal activity. If other parties are posting bail on the defendant's behalf, the hearing also helps ensure that the third parties are not being threatened or extorted in any way. Once bail has been posted, the DA's office has 72 hours to investigate the funds used and request a surety hearing to contest the legitimacy of the bail funds.
- PifiasWhen Detective Curtis takes the envelope from the victim's wife in the park, he does not wear gloves or hold the envelope in such a way as to not get his prints on it. Assistant US Attorney Bob Gervits: You think that's why I'm going after Sean Russo?
Jack McCoy: Three days after we arrest him, you convene a grand jury.
Assistant US Attorney Bob Gervits: Our investigation was in the works long before Russo murdered Gibson. But you want first crack at him, I can wait.
Jack McCoy: That's refreshing.
Assistant US Attorney Bob Gervits: Makes my life easier if you convict him. Loosen him up for a plea on my racketeering indictment. Just keep me in the loop.
Abbie Carmichael: [Gervits walks away] Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but anything less than a murder conviction against Russo, and Gervits looks like he's cleaning up our mess.
Jack McCoy: You're getting the hang of this, Abbie. But it's not going to happen.
Davidson is a hateful punk and he's indicted, but after that the Feds take a keen interest. In a previous episode US Attorney John Driver got into a turf war with Sam Waterston. Instead of justice which is a side benefit, Driver wants a little payback.
Hasn't anyone told them they're on the same side?
