John Smith for saving Lisa Gaye's life twice, first for being the foreman of a jury that acquits her of murder and secondly from a burning tepee her Arapahoe father Michael Pate makes a present of her to Smith.
But Gaye was the victim of an attempted murder in that second hand by two of the brothers of the man she killed. Seemed as though the deceased was trying to rape her and the brothers, Russell Johnson and Tony Warren believes that's what Indian squaws are for if they're handy. The older and smarter brother John Anderson believes in waiting for an opportune moment.
In the end the situation is resolved without some dangerous and embarrassing moments for the Sherman ranch. There's a great scene with Spring Byington and Michael Pate as Spring tries to diplomatically resolve the Gaye situation and Pate shows she has no career as a diplomat.
Funny and serious is this Laramie story.
