- Nikita'a latest assignment is to take down a man named Suba. When an attempt goes bad Nikita suspects someone on the team might be a traitor.
- "Her probation status is over, but that only mires Nikita deeper in the workings of Section. Yet one thing about Nikita may never change: her willingness to sidestep regulations in order to help the innocent."
Nikita is blamed by everyone when a mission goes wrong and a fellow operative (Roger) is shot in the leg. While talking with Walter, Nikita realizes Roger may not be all he seems. She returns to the scene of the failed mission and finds the casing from when Roger shot himself. Nikita confronts Roger and finds out that Suba, the terrorist, has his son hostage and is smuggling nuclear materials out of the country. Suba is using Roger for information in order to make sure his stolen merchandise leaves the country unimpeded.
Nikita takes it on herself to save Roger's son and finds Suba when no one else, including Section, can. Operations is frustrated with Michael and Birchoff because of their lack of progress. Nikita comes to them and says she can bring them Suba, but she needs a headstart. She's learning how to play Section's game! She gets what she wants and saves Roger's son.
When she returns to Section, she finds that Roger has been cancelled and cannot understand why. Madeline tells her, "You're a good operative, Nikita. Don't let your humanity get in the way."
