Caine meets a wounded gunfighter named White (Andrew Prine), being stalked by Jed Royal (Jack Riley), a crafty bounty hunter. White tells Caine that he does not like killing, but won't shy away from it, now seeking to repay a debt to Nedra Chamberlain (Katharine Woodville), whose abusive husband was killed by White 8 years before. Trouble begins when Nedra's unwanted suitor (Alan Fudge) jealously tries to shoot the unarmed Caine, shot dead by the alert White, who advises Nedra to tell the Sheriff (Sandy Kenyon) that he did it. The Sheriff demands to know where he can find White, but Caine will not betray his friend, and is locked in a cell next to Nedra. Meanwhile, Jed Royal is still hanging around, determined not to have his glory stolen by an angry mob. Familiar comic actor Jack Riley, a favorite of director Mel Brooks, has a field day making a real scoundrel out of the greedy Royal. As usual, Keye Luke as Master Po delivers another performance of superbly delivered sensitivity.
