One of the weirdest & most tense episodes...
Sherazade19 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
with Sanjay Leela Bhansali & Aishwarya Rai as the guests, your guess is probably as good as mine as to why Karan scheduled two reclusive people with past rift history to be on the show at the same time (Karan is such a drama queen). Mr. Bhansali spent half his time explaining why he doesn't buy into the Bollywood celebrity scene and in an attempt to liven up the show, Ms. Rai frantically tried to show us all why she clicks with the director by bringing up weird stories about their late night gab fest & visits and life on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam & Devdas. It was a weird show, let's leave it at that.

Okay, somewhere along the way, Karan brings up the past rift between Aishwarya and Sanjay which involved Aishwarya saying something negative in the press about the director, to which he took offense and in turn used that as an avenue to side with both Shah Rukh Khan as well as Salman Khan through difficult times in Aishwarya's life. Then in yet another attempt to be classy, Aishwarya begins to explain how she sought out the journalist who printed the crappy comments about Bhansali and taped the conversation that came out of that for the director to see that she wasn't at fault. But Bhansali was obviously not buying it and chose to not talk about the issue anymore because it hurt too much to do so. Ouch!

Bhansali later revealed (when asked about how he feels seeing Aishwarya on screen doing the work of other directors) that with the exception of his films and Chohkher Bali, every other director that has been graced with Aishwarya's presence has wasted her talent because they failed to understand it(her talent) and her beauty and her power and her presence. + he never wants any other director to truly understand her. Wow! Okay, this from the same guy who wishes she(Ms. Rai) had been cast as the lead in MURDER. LOL!

During The Rapid Fire Segment, Bhansali admitted that Kareena Kapoor's comments (she said he doesn't know how to make a film) cut deep. Karan accused Aishwarya of not being spontaneous (has anybody notice that this guy never owns up to mean comments, he always claims he heard this and that from so and so... oh! please spare me Karan!) and she always acts like she rehearsed everything she does. In case he hasn't noticed, all the former beauty queens are the same way. It comes with the territory. Naturally, these comments hurt Aishwarya but best of all, she admitted that she knows the source of all the nay-saying that comes her way. I guess her enemies should consider that a warning.

Bhansali (while comparing Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukherjee) narrowed it down to this: Aishwarya is a star, Rani is the girl next door. Food for thought: this episode revealed that the film BLACK and the film KYUN HO GAYA NA were filmed on the same set. How 'bout them apples? ;-D
