- Lucille Ball reveals the "true" story behind Paul Revere's famous ride.
- Jack Benny and Lucille Ball play Rachel and Paul Revere, telling the story of what really happened the night of Paul's famous midnight ride. As the scene opens, Betsy Ross visits Rachel to show off the new dress that she made. When she opens her coat , we see that it is made of stars and stripes. Betsy asks Rachel what she thinks she should do with the leftover fabric and Rachel suggests it might look nice on the pole one of the Minutemen was carrying in the parade. Rachel, tired of her husband being out every night, then plots to keep him home on the one night when he's really needed. She ties his leg to the bedpost, so that when the British come and he rushes off on his horse, he is yanked back into the house, crashing through the door. Seeing that her husband has been knocked unconscious, Rachel then makes the famous midnight ride herself.
