At the restaurant with Jimmy Stewart, the bill for their party of four comes to $46. This was in 1964. In 2022 dollars, that is the equivalent of about $440. Jack avoids paying the check, despite the fact that it was earlier revealed that his income for the last year was $375,000 (the equivalent of more than $3.3 million in 2022).
Jack Benny tells the IRS agents that Jimmy Stewart lives nearby . That was true. Both Jack Benny and Jimmy Stewart lived on the same street: Roxbury Drive, in Beverly Hills. Jimmy's home was only two houses south of Jack's home, on the same (east) side of the street.
However they also show establishing shots of two houses that are supposed to be the homes of those two stars, but neither one is a shot of the actual home of either star.
In this episode, both Jack Benny and Jimmy Stewart faint when the IRS agents show up at their front door. But Jack faints immediately, while Jimmy passes out a moment after admitting the agents to his home. One of the agents remarks "That's the difference between a general and a civilian." In fact, Jimmy Stewart did hold the rank of Major-General in the U.S. Air Force, the highest-ranking Hollywood actor to serve in uniform. However, Jack Benny was also a veteran, having joined the U.S. Navy during World War I.
