An Israeli Defense Forces Officer of such a Junior Rank would not be wearing the uniform that they had the Israeli Officer wear. The Dress uniform is only worn by senior officers or military attaches. The officer would instead be wearing the normal uniform for officers which consists of a sky blue shirt and navy blue pants.
When listing the Israeli Air Force pilot at first it lists him as a seren and then translates that to Lt. Seren is the Israeli equivalent to the rank of captain or in the navy the rank of Lieutenant. Then when they showed him in uniform his rank insiginia was one of segen of Lieutenant and not that of a Seren.
When Sturgis is having Lt. Commander Harriman (indicated by the stripes on his sleeve) re-enact the anger management class, Sturgis says "Thank you Lieutenant". He should have said "Lieutenant Commander" or simply "Commander".
