Another Solid Lois Episode
kgraovac31 October 2023
Lois is invited to be a speaker on Career Day at daughter Amy's school, but Amy lied about Lois being a waitress and instead made her Vice President of a bank. Lois is extremely hurt and decides to give a speech anyway despite her daughter's embarrassment. The B-plot has Sonny struggling with an impotence problem.

The episodes that put Lois in the spotlight are always enjoyable, because Susan Sullivan is a consummate actress. The scene where she confronts Amy is wonderfully written and played. Tricia Cast (Amy) would gain fame as Nina on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.

Amy refers to "Aunt Jan" which emphasizes that Jan is the closest to Lois among the girls. Jan offers to accompany Lois to the school for support - I guess this was payback for when Lois backed Jan up in "Making the Grade". It was an even nicer touch to have ALL the girls show up at the school.

It is stated in this episode that Lois took the waitress job because of the bad economy. We also learn that Cassie has six siblings.

Dot's sympathetic attitude towards Sonny creates a bond they will share for the remainder of the series. This is Sonny's biggest part thus far. A highlight of the episode is when he starts to get his mojo back just as Dot believes he's not a total sleaze.

Not a particularly comedic show, but a very solid outing even though it's the second one already to deal with issues faced by working mothers. The story is much different than what Jan was going through in "Super Mom", so it doesn't feel repetitive.

SONGS: Sonny sings "I've Got the World on a String" and "Feelings"
