- A policeman that Ironside has known for some years is on an investigation and gets shot and killed. The evidence seems to look like the policeman is crooked, Ironside is determined to prove that this is not the case.
- The young police officer Andy Anderson is shot in a dark alley. The murder puts 500 dollars in cash in his pocket. The police investigators find out that further 2000 dollars had been deposited at his bank account recently. For Commissioner Randall the case is clear: Andy has used his inside information as a detective to blackmail the wealthy Johnny Utrecht, so Utrecht had him shot. Ironside cannot believe in this theory. He knew Andy very well, and was Andy's mentor. He has double motives for taking over the investigation: to find the murder and to disperse the rumors of Andy being a taker. Ironside's team finds out that the bullet that killed Andy was shot from the same gun that killed the wife of Daryll Frazer, the owner of a glossy magazine. Frazer was suspected, but his staff photographer Simon Arkoff provided an alibi for him, saying that Frazer and his mistress Adrienne May was with him in Sausalito that very day. Ironside gets really confused, when he finds out that Andy not only investigated this suspect alibi, but also fell in love with Miss May himself.—Maths Jesperson {maths.jesperson1@comhem.se}
