Continuity

It's still night when Vincent wakes up and sees the space ship landing before the opening credits. Just after the first break, we see Vincent arrive at the police station and go inside, then see him talking to the detective. He states that the ship landed "within the hour", so it's within an hour of sunrise. However, when his car was seen pulling up to the station, it's shadow was very short and close to the edge of the car, indicating that it's well past sunrise and is at least late morning.
Near the end, when Vincent is calling for Landers, he steps out of shot, and a few seconds later, the old lady steps into the shot. There's no way he couldn't have seen her, since there's nothing she could have been hiding behind, like a pillar or a tree; when Landers drove up earlier, there was nothing anywhere near the driver's side of his car behind which she could have been hiding.
In the pilot episode, the miniature landscape where the UFO first lands does not look like the exterior location used for the next day when Vincent shows the authorities where he saw it.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

The town cop wears a motorcycle helmet throughout the show, yet always drives a patrol car. CORRECTION: Many law enforcement agencies in California, in the late 1960's - early 1970's, required all officers to wear a helmet when ever they got out of the patrol car. The type of helmet, worn by the officer, in the episode, is not a motorcycle hermit, It is the standard issue helmet worn by most agencies in California, during that time period and beyond.
David recognizes the deformed finger of the male camper/ newlywed when he hands his wallet to Lt. Holman. This is David's first experience ever with aliens. He has no reason to suspect that the newlywed couple are aliens. Furthermore he, at that time, has no knowledge of aliens having the deformed finger.

Correction: He merely notices the finger, but makes the connection later.

Revealing mistakes

In the opening moments we first see The Invaders' Flying Saucer, which lands flat on the ground. Yet, in all subsequent appearances, the ship is shown to have five landing legs that retract from the underside, one with a ladder. This is the only instance where the saucer is shown without landing legs.

Plot holes

The entire room is in flames, but Vincent grabs a little throw rug and beats at the flames two or three times.
