There is a nice scene where Inspector Mornay shows that he can be quicker than a computer.

Mornay lists some possible suspects involved in the theft of paintings by old masters from a private collector in London.

Wolf Barstrom is in the frame and he normally sells stolen paintings on in America.

Inspector Duval figures that Barstrom will use an old trick to take the paintings out of the country. This time Barstrom is one step ahead of the police and tries a different ploy.

However when a dead body of an old man is found, someone who helped with the theft leads to his undoing. Barstrom shows his hand at an auction.

A nicely compelling episode with a battle of wills and a Camera Obscura used to case out a joint.
