Desert Hi-Jack

Professor Velard an archaeologist is murdered in Marseilles. He was on his way to North Africa.

Velard's place is substituted by a notorious gun runner and smuggler called Jacques Morrell. He will be distributing arms shipments stolen from the Foreign Legion in the desert. He even manages to enlist some help when he arrives in North Africa.

In Marseilles a notorious criminal's body is discovered. He had the identity papers of Morell in his possession but the face was deformed. Inspector Duval is sent to investigate as he is sceptical.

When Duval meets the fake professor, his suspicions are aroused. Pretty soon Duval finds himself in danger from a deranged knife thrower.

It is a good job Duval is about, the police in Marseilles verged on being incompetent if they fell for the false papers on a dead person.

Then again Duval would be in great bother if police chief Renoir (Henry Oscar) was not about to assist him. Oscar was more memorable as Inspector Lognon in the BBC Maigret series.
