The town of Sparta is united in grief when four cheerleaders are the victims of a hit
and run accident. Three die at the scene and the fourth, Belinda J. Montgomery's
daughter has a broken spine and is in a coma.
Coming on the scene is retired Mississippi highway patrol chief Tom Dugan lending whatever assistance he can to the investigation. The first of four appearances by Joe Don Baker in the series.
The grief is almost unbearable for Montgomery and her son Benji Wilhoite. Good chance that her daughter may never come out of the coma.
This episode belongs to Alan Autry who as Howard Rollins says to Baker has real good instincts. After a false start Bubba finds the malefactor and it's quite a fish he lands.
This episode is a sermon and a good one against drunk driving.
