Great Fun

This is the one where Lucy gets to actually play in Ricky's band ("haha - isn't that the craaazziesst 'A' you ever heard" - "slip me some skin, Gates!" - "Or don't you dig bebop-bebop?") says Ms Ricardo.

The scene where Lucy opens the closet door to find a strange man hidden therein is split second perfection - hilarious.

Of course, Lucy gets revenge on Ricky's dirty trick in the end.

They will never make a show like this one ever again.

Thank God for the gift of film - Desi was so wise to film this evergreen joy: he had foresight!

I am partial to the first four years of the show: there is a certain elusive magical quality the show exuded which vanished after Jess Oppenheimer (a real genius) left over control issues with Desi.

But the final two seasons are still grade A!

Just not A+

Bebop, bepop, bebop!

Slip me some booyyyyyy! I just adore Lucy as Fred's idea of a musician. You know what's interesting the saxophone is in the title but it was present in the first act of the episode only. The second act is Lucy pretending she's having an affair to make Ricky jealous and he gets back at her and she gets back at him. All good fun.

Perfect ending

Warning: Spoilers
Lucy wants to join Ricky and his band on a bus tour. Unable to convince Ricky she tries to join the band with her saxophone. That doesn't work either. She finally decides to pretend she has a secret lover. Ricky believes it until he realizes the hat and gloves are Fred's ( it couldn't be him Ricky says) . But he gets the idea to get even with Lucy by getting his buddy in the musician's union to send over some musicians to hide in the closet and give her a scare and it does! She goes missing for hours and Ethel scolds him for his prank . Ricky is worried the phone rings it's his buddy telling him he couldn't find anyone! He runs out calling for Lucy. Back at the musicians we see Lucy with all the guys and they along with Lucy get the last laugh! Perfect!

Watch for Lucy and Ethel going down memory lane in the attic at the beginning and Lucy taking Fred's advice on dressing and talking like a musician . Solid episode.

Kenny G., Woody Allen and Bill Clinton certainly hope that Lucy never shows up to one of their jazz sessions.

Warning: Spoilers
While searching for a trunk to prepare for Ricky's gig out of town touring with the band, Lucy finds her old saxophone from high school and decides to audition so she can go with him. When the audition fails, Lucy decides that she's going to make Ricky jealous by thinking something will be up while he's away. But Ricky becomes aware of what she is up to and decides to get even.

Veteran character actor Herb Vigran guest stars as an associate of Ricky's who sets up a man to come over and hide in the closet so Ricky can catch him there. Charles Victor makes an appearance with a funny twist, but I didn't think that his appearance really resolved everything once Vigran called. Nothing really happens to determine how Ricky and Lucy will deal with the issue of her staying behind while he goes away. While there are many funny moments, that aspect of the episode weakens it.
