Can you get a loving cup out of a woman's head?
angelahptrio26 October 2023
Classic I Love Lucy episode. Lucy's head is stuck in a loving cup, literally. A normal conversation between Lucy and Ricky over what hat she should wear, and it ends up with her putting on the loving cup on her head as a joke, and it turns into a whole premise. Ethel's phone call asking can you get a loving cup out of a woman's head is hysterical. And her saying you won't have trouble recognizing her. I love that even though Lucy has a cup on her head, Ethel is worried she'll be judged wearing her blue jeans at the Subway. Lucy makes a point no one will notice her jeans if she's going with a loving cup on her head.

Lucy sticks her head in it!

Warning: Spoilers
Ricky is master of ceremonies for acclaimed jockey Johnny Longden ( probably not well remembered now) at a banquet . Lucy buys a new dress and hat for the occasion ( Ricky actually tells her to buy them this time) . The hat is the latest fashion but Ricky and Fred just laugh at it. He doesn't want Lucy wearing and says it looks like a fuzzy fishbowl. He also said the loving cup engraved for Johnny Longdon would look better! So we know where this is going.

Despite the efforts of Lucy and Ethel they can't get the loving cup off Lucy's head .

Ethel takes Lucy on the subway to a blacksmith but they get separated. Lucy must fend for here on and off the subway. She amuses people and is ridiculed by some and even frightening others. It's probably the least control over any situation she's been in without a friendly face!

She finally gets help from a policeman. He takes her to the banquet with the Loving Cup still on her head!
