Introduces Vinton Hayworth as General Schaeffer. In Season 5 he would replace Barton MacLane, who played General Peterson since the first season. MacLane died at age 66 on January 1, 1969, two days after this episode was broadcast.
The band Lewis & Clarke Expedition were, like The Monkees, created by Screen Gems (ColGems record label). The band never charted in its one year of existence (1967-68) but the members went on to greater success individually. In 1968, Owen "Boomer" Castleman invented the guitar palm pedal (patented as the Bigsby); Michael Martin Murphey sold two gold-certified country albums and had a platinum single in 1975, "Wildfire."
Suzie ( Hilarie Thompson ) finds out what Jeannie is and is sworn to secrecy by Tony. In return, Suzie wants Tony to keep her and her boyfriend hidden from her father. So when Tony threatens to tell her father where she and Harold are, Suzie sings the opening line of the Stephen Foster song "I Dream of Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair". This is the only reference to the Foster song (apart from the series title) made during the series run.
In the scene where Tony first drops off the general's daughter , the Darrin & Samantha Stevens' home from Bewitched (1964) can clearly be seen in the background.
