Looks like Tim and Jill have got the house to themselves, since Brad and Mark aren't in this episode. Tim's sporting a sexy jacket that's designed like a piece of wood, which seems to turn Jill on. Their moment of intimacy is interrupted due to a phone call by Tim's brother Jeff. He's decided to take Tim up on his dinner invite, and goes on to talk about his bad case of foot fungus, in very explicit detail. It's a real mood killer. After the intro, Tim and Jill find they still have the episode to themselves, so they attempt to pick up where they left off. As if somebody was watching and did this deliberately, the doorbell rings. But, unlike the phone, a machine can't answer this one. It's Jill's sister, Carrie, who just barges right in. Always willing to bend over backwards for her family, Jill invites her to stay with them. Tim doesn't object because, well, what's the point? That night at dinner, Jeff drones on and on about his foot fungus, and Tim and Jill are too polite to change the subject. Carrie comes back afterwards just in time for the fight. No, not Tim and Jill. It's a TV boxing match. It seems Carrie and Jeff are old friends, and they do some catching up. Jeff mentions how his previous marriage ended in proverbial bloodshed, and how Jill blabbed to Carrie about him currently living with his mother. All in all, the evening wasn't a total loss.
Now, finally, Tim and Jill can get some alone time in the privacy of their own room. However, things are about to get VERY awkward. Just as Tim and Jill get into the throes of intimacy and romance, they hear Jeff and Carrie in the next room. Ya know, maybe you two should go to a motel? But that wasn't the worst of it. While they couldn't be 100% positive, it sounded as if Jeff and Carrie were sleeping together. The two of them seemed to be going at it like teenagers, so Tim and Jill retreat to the living room. Good thing Brad and Mark aren't in this episode, this is definitely not something for children to hear. Jill proceeds to badmouth Jeff, while Tim returns the favor with Carrie. They childishly bicker about whose family is better than whose. Suddenly, Jeff and Carrie come downstairs, having apparently worked up an appetite from doing the horizontal mambo and head out for a bite. Next day begins Woodworking Week on Tool Time, as Tim and Al replace dents in furnished wood tables. However, Tim carves a butterfly key out of a piece of wood from a different tree than the table, which coincides with his feelings about Jeff and Carrie. Then he gives a speech about how all wood is created equal. Jill, meanwhile, talks with Wilson, who once again helps her to see what a judgmental shrew she is, and that she really does look down on Tim's family, mostly owing to her opinionated father. So, Jill and Carrie have a talk, and she reveals nothing actually happened with her and Jeff that night. Jill gives her sister and Jeff her full blessing as they head out on their date.
There's a brief gag before the credits where Tim says he was peeping at Al's mother naked, causing his hair to turn white...and make him grow a goatee for some reason. Obviously from some movie Tim Allen was filming at the time that will most likely be forgotten in the coming years. I'm not being mean, I'm just pointing out that Mr. Allen has had a mediocre film career. I mean, name some Tim Allen movies that aren't in the Toy Story or Santa Clause canon, and see how well you remember them. All in all, this episode isn't too bad. Jeff and Carrie would make a decent couple, I guess. We didn't see much of them together. But at the same time, their siblings are married, so it wouldn't exactly be kosher for two in-laws to hook up as well. Kudos to the wardrobe department for Tim's wooden jacket...lumber-jacket, as Jill called it. So while somewhat forgettable, this episode is alright and worth seeing at least once.
