Hogan and his men break the fourth wall by whistling the Hogan's Heroes March theme while cleaning up outside of Klink's office. They also whistle the theme in The Pizza Parlor (1966) and Klink's Escape (1970).
Newkirk makes a reference to Gracie Fields. She was an English actress and singer, who entertained the Allied troops during WWII.
This is one of the few episodes where Schultz is seen speaking German. He has a discussion with the guards of the gold truck, while giving them coffee.
Gold plated masonry bricks and red painted gold bricks; gee. A standard masonry brick weighs about 4.5 pounds, an equal size brick of gold would weigh over 30 pounds. Even a hunk of lead the same size would only weigh about 18 pounds.
This is Pitt Herbert's only guest appearance in the series. He portrays one of the Gestapo guards guarding the gold truck. He speaks fluent German, while talking to Schultz. He is just credited as 'German #1'.
