- Colonel Crittendon shows up again and messes up Hogan's plans to destroy a ball-bearing plant.
- At the start, Carter and LeBeau are working on a staff car in the motor-pool. Hogan tells them to break everything. Everything on the car has been fixed, so something needs to be broken in order to fix it again. Klink comes up and asks if the car is done. Schultz opens the door, and it falls off; Klink says that the door was not on the list to be fixed. Klink asks when he will get the car; Hogan says that he will get the car when it is fixed. Klink wants the car at 7:00 this evening for dinner. Kinch bring a box of goodies marked 'handbucher', and Newkirk puts it on the car. Kinch offers Schultz cake and brownies. Schultz refuses; a little starvation doesn't hurt anybody. Schultz picks up the crate and almost drops it.
Later in the barracks, Hogan is looking at a map making plans. Newkirk and Carter are in German uniforms. Hogan says to use the operation name 'Delivery Truck'. Kinch gets a signal coming in, a radio message: The orders have changed, Colonel X orders an attack on STALAG 16. Hogan is confused by this message. He tells Carter and Newkirk to swing by Unit 1 to see who Colonel X is.
In Klink's office, Klink is taking Hilda on a date. Hilda is in a coat and scarf, goes outside. Schultz is there sitting on a motorcycle with a sidecar. Klink was supposed to have his car by now. Klink asks where his car is. Schultz says that Hogan and his men are still working on it. Hilda says that she had a headache, would rather walk, and leaves. Klink holds a rose that he was going to give Hilda, and tells Schultz to drive off. Schultz starts the motorcycle, drives off, and leaves the sidecar which has become detached.
Later that evening, Hogan comes out of the tree stump tunnel entrance, and avoids a searchlight. He goes to a barn, which is supposed to be where Unit 1 is. He sees Carter on guard duty with a rifle out front. Carter says that Colonel X is short of men, and he 'volunteered' for duty. If he wants more information, he has to talk with Colonel X's aide inside the barn. Hogan goes inside, and sees the aide, Newkirk, sitting at a desk. After talking a bit, Hogan asks Newkirk if the mysterious Colonel X is really our Colonel Crittendon. Crittendon comes up behind Hogan and says how nice it is to see you. Hogan says facetiously :Can't tell you how nice it is to see you again too'.
Crittendon calls Newkirk and asks for plans to attack STALAG 16. They are tacked up on the wall. Hogan says he has orders from London; he needs a volunteer with superior intelligence and other attributes. Crittenden volunteers. Hogan asks for a map; Crittendon looks in a box where he thought he put it, and gives Hogan plans to assemble a radio set. Hogan draws plans on the back of the paper. There is a ball bearing plant, formerly a bottling plant. Hogan asks Crittendon if he should write it out. Crittendon says that he remembers it like Shakespeare plays. Crittenden starts to recite Shakespeare, but can't remember the words. Hogan finishes one phrase for him, and Newkirk finishes another.
Back in the barracks, Hogan says that everything is going perfect; he wonders why he is getting a bad feeling. Just then, Crittendon comes back to camp and walks into the barracks; there was no explosion. Crittendon drove a truck and parked it outside the barracks. Hogan says that they are still 2 hours away; Hogan and Crittendon argue about the time. Crittendon wants to hop in the truck and go back. Hogan says that the truck is full of TNT set to go off at midnight. He says that he did not see the possibility of some bonehead driving off in the truck. Kinch looks out the door - he sees trouble. Klink is talking to Schultz, asking about the truck; the truck goes out, and back in. Klink posts a guard; arrest the driver when he comes back. Newkirk says that the first thing to do is to not panic; Kinck says that he already has, what is the next thing to do? Crittendon wants to go out and subdue the guard. Hogan says that the guard that was posted is Corporal Kohler, and large tough HauptGefreiter. He tells Crittendon to look again. Crittendon says that he uses 'killer judo' which will subdue anybody. Crittendon goes out and attacks Kohler from behind. His judo chops do nothing to Kohler; in fact, Kohler does not seem to notice the first few. Crittendon keeps chopping at Kohler, but does nothing to him.
Next, Crittendon is in Klink's office with Klink, Major Hochstetter, and one other Gestapo officer. They are questioning Crittendon as to what is going on. Hogan and the men are listening in on the conversation. Hogan tells Newkirk to make a call. Newkirk calls Klink's office and asks for Hochstetter. He says that there was sabotage at the ball bearing plant. They have suspects, and Hochstetter is needed there. Hochstetter leaves Klink's office; when he goes to get in his car, he notices a flat tire. He asks for Klink's staff car; Klink says that the door may fall off. It is still in the repair shop. Hochstetter sees the truck parked in the compound; he says that he will take the truck.
Schultz brings Crittendon to the barracks, tells how he escaped. Just then, there is an explosion. Hogan says to expect heavy showers of ball bearings in the area.
At the end, Kinch and Newkirk are finishing repairing the staff car. Hogan is going over the checklist. Schultz brings Klink to the motor-pool in a motorcycle with a sidecar. Klink asks Hogan if the car is ready. Hogan says that the car is ready - almost. He still have to finish the checklist. Klink says to forget about the checklist. Klink then gets into the car and drives off. Is there anything that they forgot about? LeBeau gets up from the ground; he was under the car as it left. LeBeau holds up a cable and says 'just the brake cable'. The car is then heard crashing into the office.
