John Banner, Bob Crane, Richard Dawson, Ivan Dixon, and Werner Klemperer in Hogan's Heroes (1965)

Goofs

Diamonds in the Rough

Hogan's Heroes

Edit

Continuity

In the final scene when the Gestapo officer is questioning Col. Hogan, the three stamps on Col. Klink's desk change position, Klink's cigarette lighter also vanishes from where it was, just to the right of the stamps.
When the Heroes sit down to look at the fake diamonds, Col. Hogan takes a metal box held shut by some kind of string or elastic out of a bag and sets it down on top of the bag. When they cut to a close-up in the next scene, there is no sign of the bag or what was holding the box shut.

Factual errors

At the start of the scene of the work detail on the road, a white moth is seen flying around in the dead of winter.
When Colonel Klink and Sargeant Schultz are talking to the men outside you can hear crickets chirping. Crickets could not survive in the cold Winter weather.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When the plane drops the fake diamonds, the initial shot shows a man or a dummy leaving the plane, even though it's obvious that cargo lands with a parachute attached.

That's the crate with the parachute attached. It's a different kind of parachute since there's no one to pull the rip cord.

Revealing mistakes

Kinchloe is looking through the periscope and sees Schultz (from the front) sitting on the tree napping. When Hogan leaves the tunnel to meet Myra, the ladder to the exit is only steps away from Kinchloe, still watching through the periscope. Yet when Hogan comes up through the stump, he is well behind the sleeping Schultz.

Miscellaneous

Closed captioning mis-match: When Klink is dressed as a gefreiter and says to Schultz 'Ja wohl, herr Feldwebel', the closed captioning says 'Ja wohl Hauptman'. It got the rank wrong. Schultz is an OberFeldwebel (master sergeant), not a Hauptman (captain).

Crew or equipment visible

During the first meeting between Hegel and Hogan, Newkirk, Carter, and LeBeau, Hegel sits at his desk. On the desk is a lamp, with a bowl-shaped shade. During the low shots of Hegel, there are usually two spots of light on the shade from overhead lights shining on it. The uppermost spot of light on the shade fluctuates somewhat due to the shadow of the microphone. When Hegel turns his head and says, "Sergeant Carter here is very good with explosives." The microphone shifts and completely obscures the upper spot of light on the shade.

Plot holes

Character error

In order to provide comedy relief in this episode, Carter is made terribly naive and childishly simple, making it impossible to believe he could ever have advanced in rank to sergeant.
When Carter and LeBeau return with the 'diamonds', they leave the tunnel open, and no one is at the door watching for guards or Klink. There would be standing orders for someone to be at the door watching whenever the tunnel is open. Of course, there would also be standing orders to close the tunnel whenever it is not in active use.
When Hogan leaves the tunnel to meet Myra, he stops by and closes Schultz's mouth as he is sleeping. Carter, LeBeau, and Newkirk are not shown leaving the tunnel 15 minutes later. Since they followed Hogan out the same tunnel exit, they would have had to pass by Schultz, too. Hogan would not have done anything to disturb Schultz, or wake him up, knowing that the three others would be following in a few minutes.
