- LeBeau wants to escape, leaving Stalag 13 without its resident chef.
- Lebeau has prepared another gourmet meal, this time for Klink as he attempts to impress General Wexler, a key figure on the promotion board. It seems that the general's aide, Captain Richter, is an Allies sympathizer who has documents of interest to pass on. Now in possession of copies of those documents, the Heroes arrange a meeting with an underground contact. While passing the information to the beautiful Marie Bizet, they suggest that this is somewhat lower priority knowledge, but Richter has promised that he will soon have critical data regarding the German West Wall. This will be provided during the General's next visit in about a week's time. As the meeting is about to break up, Marie declares that she has a message of special interest to Lebeau. She goes on to say that General Charles de Gaulle has issued a call for all free Frenchmen to rally in England in preparation to liberate France. Lebeau then informs Hogan that he will escape Stalag 13 and join the French army in England.—Harry Tumilson
- This is the first episode of the last season. This is also the first appearance of Sergeant Baker, replacing Sergeant Kinchloe.
At the start, Klink and Schultz are in Klink's quarters starting a formal dinner for German General Wexler and his aide Captain Richter. LeBeau is a waiter serving hors d'oeuvres; he is the chef for the dinner. Carter and Newkirk are also waiters. Schultz starts taking some hors d'oeuvres. General Wexler asks if it is usual for the enlisted men to eat before the officers; is this a local tradition? Klink says that Schultz is the food taster, as the chef is one of his 'dangerous' prisoners. Schultz tastes the food, and says that there are no signs of poison. While this is going on, Newkirk is in the bedroom opening a briefcase. He pulls out some papers, rolls them up, puts them in a tray, and carries them out, into the dining room, past the officers, and out the front door. Later, down in the tunnel, Hogan looks at the papers, and says that they are low-grade stuff, such as a secret ball bearing plant and locations of anti-aircraft guns, information that they already have. Baker and the others are there with him. He finds a note that says that the next drop will be plans to the west wall underwater obstacles. Captain Richter seems to be a secret agent for the allies. Baker then asks about how Klink would look as a general.
At a nearby farm, in the barn, Hogan, Newkirk, and LeBeau meet an Underground agent, Marie. Hogan tells her about the west wall plans and the need to get them out. When he is finished talking, she says that there is one more thing, that concerns LeBeau. General DeGaulle has sent a message to all Frenchmen to come to England to help liberate the Homeland. She reads some of the message; this stirs LeBeau's patriotism. LeBeau kisses the agent, Marie Bizet. Viva la France! Viva la liberte! Viva DeGaulle! LeBeau is excited. He tells Hogan that he wants to go to England to join DeGaulle. Hogan does not want him to go.
Next day in the compound, Newkirk, LeBeau, and Carter are washing a car. Newkirk and Carter try to talk LeBeau out of going. After some discussion, they agree with LeBeau about his wanting to go. Later, Baker and LeBeau are raking dirt, discussing the issue. LeBeau asks Baker what to tell his children what he did during the war. Baker tells LeBeau to lie to his kid.
Hogan says that he could order LeBeau to stay; LeBeau says that Hogan is a colonel and DeGaulle is a general. Hogan wants LeBeau to stay long enough to cook another meal for General Wexler, where he would get the west wall plans. He is coming back again for another dinner with Klink. (He implies, but does not say outright, that Wexler's aide, Captain Richter, is an agent cooperating with them.) LeBeau says he wants to teach others to cook.
In the barracks, Newkirk, Carter, and Baker are taking cooking lessons from LeBeau with Schultz watching. They are not cooking very well. LeBeau is giving good descriptions of the food, Schultz is excited at the descriptions, and asks LeBeau to marry him.
Later in the tunnel, the men are fitting LeBeau with civilian clothes in preparation for his leaving. Hogan, Newkirk, Carter, Baker, and Marie are in the tunnel discussing the escape. LeBeau says goodbye and shakes hands with the others; then he kisses Baker, Carter, and Newkirk on the cheek, French style. Marie and LeBeau go up through the tree stump tunnel entrance and leave.
In Klink's quarters, Klink is eating dinner (alone, without the general) and Schultz is serving. Klink tastes the food and gags. He says that the food is bad and wants to talk to the cook. Since LeBeau is not there anymore, Carter is doing the cooking. Carter comes out, and says in a phony French accent that it is 'chicken a la princessee'. Klink tells Carter to take the food away and bury it. Hogan tells Klink that LeBeau is gone. Klink says that General Wexler is coming again next week. Klink orders that LeBeau be shot on sight; Hogan talks him out of it. Klink tells Schultz to look for LeBeau; and to bring back and order of poached eggs. Hogan also asks for an order of toast, but Klink objects.
At the barn, Hogan and LeBeau are talking; Hogan wants him to come back and LeBeau wants to leave. LeBeau says that romance may be developing with the Underground agent, Marie Benet. Just then, another Underground agent comes in and says that the Gestapo have picked up Marie. LeBeau is angry with the Germans at this. He wants to take a car, go to Gestapo headquarters, shoot all the Gestapo; Hogan says that would be suicide. Hogan says that they need to call Vichy, and that will take a couple of days. Hogan tells LeBeau to come back, and says that he can leave for London after they get the plans.
LeBeau come to the prison where Marie is held and tries to get her released. He is wearing a mustache, and says he is a Vichy agent Duclos. The guard will not let her go. Then, Hogan and Newkirk come in dressed as Gestapo officers, Hogan as a major, Major Hoganburger. Hogan seems to recognize 'Duclos'. LeBeau says that he is Sergeant Maurice Duclos, from Vichy. Hogan/Hoganburger says that they met on another case previously. After some discussion, Hogan gets the guard to sign the papers; Marie is released. Hogan takes LeBeau back to STALAG 13.
Klink sentences LeBeau to 10 days in the cooler. Hogan talks about cooking dinner for General Wexler. Klink relents.
At the dinner with Klink, Wexler, and Richter, Carter is serving as waiter, LeBeau is serving the food. Newkirk in the bedroom unlocks the briefcase, Baker takes pictures of the papers. The general wants cigars, since he is finished eating. Captain Richter says that they are in his briefcase, and he will get them (apparently knowing what is going on, he does not want Wexler to catch anything going on). The general wants to get them himself, so he stands up and walks toward the bedroom. Carter stands by the door, but the General insists. Wexler goes into the bedroom looking for the briefcase; Carter 'finds' it, being handed to him by Newkirk who is under the bed. Wexler unlocks the briefcase, takes some cigars, and locks the briefcase up again. He gives the briefcase back to Carter. After Wexler leaves, Carter finds Newkirk under the bed; Newkirk wants to breathe again, apparently holding his breath while Wexler was there. Carter hurriedly goes back and gets the plans and has Newkirk put them back.
Later, Hogan is looking at negative slides of the pictures. Included are plans for submarine pens and the west wall. Marie says that she will be sure that London gets these Hogan smiles, and says that the plans are important enough for a courier plane. He has Baker radio for a plane, and says to tell them that there will be a passenger, General DeGaulle's new personal chef, implicitly referring to LeBeau. LeBeau has changed his mind and says he will stay. He says that they will all get caught in 2 weeks without him. Hogan tells LeBeau to whip up some hors d'oeuvres. LeBeau is slightly ticked off.
At the end, Klink is on the phone; after a short conversation he hangs up. In the 2 weeks that have passed since General Wexler was there, he has done nothing about his promotion; maybe he should have him back for another dinner. Wexler is on the promotion board, but that does not seem to be enough. Klink thinks about inviting another general. Hogan suggests that he has not gone high enough, maybe invite Goring, Hogan asks Klink about LeBeau. Klink asks Hogan to tell LeBeau to start planning the dinner. Hogan says that it is hard to plan the dinner in the cooler. Klink tells Hogan to tell LeBeau that he can plan the meal wherever Klink tells him to. Hogan implies that if Goring has heartburn, this would not go well for Klink. Hogan gets Klink to release LeBeau. Hogan says that with Goring, Klink should have LeBeau cook for 6 people.
