- Crittendon and Hogan's men try to capture Rommel, "The Desert Fox" and current commander of the Western defenses.
- Hogan receives orders to meet a group of commandos being parachuted into the local area. The Heroes, clad in German uniforms, arrive at the appointed site with a truck and the intention of providing transport to the group. Things begin to go afoul almost immediately when it is discovered that the klutz, Colonel Crittendon, is their leader. He quickly refuses the transport stating that he and his men will walk the ten miles to the Stalag. Having returned to the camp, the Heroes anxiously await their arrival. Eventually Crittendon appears, alone, having successfully escaped the Germans who captured his entire team. He informs Hogan and crew that the now doomed mission, was to capture Field Marshal Rommel who is currently recuperating in a hospital near Hammelburg. The end-goal is for a prisoner exchange, Rommel for a captured British Admiral, head of naval intelligence. Hogan and crew, with the leadership of Crittendon who is quick to remind all that he is senior ranking officer, undertake to complete the assignment.—Harry Tumilson
- At the start, Kinchloe is receiving a Morse code message. Commandos will be parachuting in, and Hogan is to bring them in to STALAG 13. Their mission is to capture Field Marshall Rommel, who is recovering at a local hospital after being wounded. They are to meet the commandos in area A11, about 2 miles from Hammelburg, 12 miles from STALAG 13. Hogan says the SS will be blocking roads, but that British prisoners with German guards in the truck should be no problem. Hogan asks Kinch about getting a truck from the motor-pool. Hogan tells Kinch to radio back to have the commando dropped in service uniforms. Hogan and the men will go out in German uniforms to meet them.
Later, LeBeau, Carter, Newkirk, and Kinch are working on a truck; Hogan tells them that he wants the truck out of commission until tonight. Carter rolls out on a dolly and says something; Hogan pushes him back under the truck. The cart that he is on hits LeBeau, and LeBeau pushes him back and it hits Klink in the leg. Klink comes up and asks why the truck is being repaired. Hogan asks Newkirk to give him a quick technical answer as to why it is still being repaired. Newkirk says that it is broken. Klink does not believe the truck is broken, and tells Schultz to start the truck. Schultz is reluctant to try it, but Klink says that nothing will happen. Schultz gets in, tries to start the truck, and the engine explodes. Schultz falls out of the truck onto the ground, still holding the steering wheel.
That night, Hogan and the men take the truck out, wearing German uniforms. Hogan is in an officer's uniform, Kinch has 3 chevrons on his sleeve (indicating HauptGefreiter, or Senior Corporal), the rest are straight privates. Hogan says that the commandos will be using crickets (similar to the ones used at Normandy). They spread out to look for the commandos. Suddenly, all of them hear a cricket; They go looking for the source, thinking it is the commandos. It is actually Carter cracking his knuckles. They do not find the commandos, so they start to go back to the truck. While walking back, Colonel Crittenden grabs Hogan, thinking he is a real German. After seeing that the 'German' is Hogan, Crittenden releases him. There are 6 commandos resting in the woods. Crittenden asks Commando Tobin who is on watch; Tobin replies 'Me and Digby sir', as he taps another Commando on his head. Hogan tells them to get in the truck; Crittenden says that his men will march. The commandos are not enthusiastic about walking to camp, and they are all tired; they can be heard moaning about the walk.
Back at camp, Hogan and the men are in the tunnel waiting for the commandos to arrive. Hogan looks out through the land periscope, and does not see them. He walks away and keeps talking. Hogan hears tapping noises outside. He tells Carter to stop cracking his knuckles; Carter says that it is not him, his hands are in his pockets. LeBeau looks out the land periscope and at first does not see anything. He moves the periscope around a bit; Crittenden knock on it trying to get somebody's attention. Then Crittenden grabs the periscope and pulls it up, dragging LeBeau up, screaming.
Later in the barracks, Crittenden tells Hogan the story of them coming to camp. Crittenden says that they were surrounded, 300 against 7. He told them to surrender. He said that he was waiting for the others to make room for him in the back of the truck, but the truck that took them away drove off before Crittenden could get in it. After talking about the plan for Rommel, Hogan tells Crittenden that Crittenden's plan is better than Hogan's plan. Carter, LeBeau, and Newkirk follow Hogan's lead. Kinch then comes up from the tunnel, and says that London is waiting for information on the raid. Crittenden says that he has all of the information in his head. Rommel is in a hospital in Hammelburg, room 101, and gives them other information. He needs volunteers for the assignment. Crittenden thanks the men for volunteering (even though some of them 'were volunteered'. Hogan asks him why London wants Rommel to be captured. Crittendden says that the Germans captured British Admiral Thomas Todley, and the plan is to capture Rommel and exchange him for Admiral Todley.
Hogan toes to Klink's office. Klink tells Hogan that he is a scheming troublemaker. He asks Hogan why the truck is not fixed; Hogan says that it still needs repairs. Klink says that the truck was being repaired yesterday. Hogan says that the truck still needs minor repairs; yesterday was the major repairs, and you need to fix the major repairs to find the minor repairs. Hogan asks Klink why his men could not fix it; Klink says that General Burkhalter transferred all of his maintenance crew to bomber service. Hogan will have the men fix the truck; Klink gets Hilda on the phone has Schultz stand guard. He says 'Get this Hogan. Tell him to take his gun.'
Later, the men are 'fixing' the truck. Newkirk suddenly tells them to take a 1 hour rest period. Schultz asks them why they are resting; LeBeau says that Newkirk told them to. Schultz tells them to work while he rests. LeBeau suggests a cot in the tool room. Schultz says that if they want him over there, he will stay here. Schultz gets in the back of the truck, and lies down to sleep. After he starts snoring, Carter drives the truck off, leaving Schultz sleeping on a board that is attached to the loading dock.
At the hospital where Rommel is supposedly at, Hogan tells Newkirk to shut the power. Crittenden says that he has the circuit diagram in his head; he knows which of the three switches in the basement is the main power switch, so he will do it instead. Hogan, Newkirk, Carter, LeBeau, and Crittenden go into the hospital. They are wearing German uniforms; Hogan an officer's uniform, Crittenden as an OberFeldwebel, and the rest as privates. They find a vacant room, the doctor's lounge, to make final plans. Crittenden gives Hogan a syringe with something in it that will make Rommel unconscious. Crittenden leaves, and Hogan and the other men wait for 30 seconds, expecting the power to go off. Hogan and the men leave; instead of the power going off, and air raid siren sounds. Instead of hitting the main power switch, Crittenden hit the air raid siren switch. Hogan and LeBeau sneak in a room and put on scrubs, looking like doctors. Hogan asks Crittenden about what happened; he then sticks Crittenden with the needle, and Crittenden falls unconscious. They put him on a gurney and cover him with a blanket. LeBeau, Newkirk, and Carter then go into room 101, and carry a body out on a stretcher, with the body completely covered; apparently, they did not look to see who it was. They carry him out, leaving Crittenden on the gurney; Hogan takes Newkirk back to get Crittenden. LeBeau and Carter carry Rommel out, Newkirk wheels Crittenden out.
At the end, in the barracks, Kinch is still trying to get London on the radio. Schultz comes in, excited, wearing braid on his right shoulder, and says there is going to be a roll call and barracks inspection, as Field Marshall Rommel is coming to camp. Hogan, thinking that they kidnapped Rommel, wonders what is going on. Hogan quickly goes to the tunnel, and talks to Crittenden in London on the radio. Hogan says that they gave them the wrong 'package'. Crittenden says that they actually kidnapped Admiral Todley, and asks how they knew Todley was in the same hospital as Rommel. Crittenden says that he does not remember a thing about the operation. He wants to work with Hogan and the men on another assignment. Hogan pulls a wire and says that the Germans are jamming the signal. Hogan then says that being a prisoner of war is a dangerous branch of service.
