Many clips used from previous episodes. Some more of Duncan's rich history told. Poorly done scene when Michael Christian takes out May-Ling.

Warning: Spoilers
A Watcher, Rita, is helping immortal Michael Christian to take out other immortals. One of the immortals Michael kills is May-Ling, an old friend of Duncan. Christian is in town and his new target is Duncan. In the meantime, a few watcher friends of Joe's are around including Ian Bancroft, May-Ling's watcher. Ian appears to be a top dog watcher and used to be Darius' watcher.

Rita and Michael have a creepy relationship, didn't they? It appears almost like mother and son, yet also sexual. Weird. Michael Christian seems almost passive about everything and does whatever Rita tells him. He strikes me as being dumb.

There's another double flashback here. Duncan flashes back to 1780 when he meets May-Ling. In the flashback his flashes back to 1778 when he was with Hideo Koto.

I loved that May-Ling, a woman was a master and one of his teachers. She trains him in the 'Way of the White Crane.' I believe this is the style we saw a lot starting with episode one of season two. Duncan and May-Ling become lovers. Because as you know every woman that crosses Duncan's path goes gaga over him.

Did you notice that Kiem Sun was mentioned here? He was in season's one, 'The Road not Taken." Pretty cool that they reflected that.

I found it dumb that Michael killed May-Ling. All she had to do was use her feet to push away from the wall of the pool. She had loads of time. Poorly done scene.

So the Watchers had a man in Mongolia back in 1778 did they? Honestly, I think the Watcher origins needed to be told. I view them as evil. Not Joe or Methos. But overall.

So was Rita right about caring about those they watch? Or was Ian right about not caring? I kinda got the impression that Ian saw them as "its." Although later he sounds like a hypocrite when talking about Darius. Joe seems to have the best outlook. I think he still sees them as human beings because he can see the humanity in some of them, such as Duncan and Richie. I have to say Joe does help Duncan tho. And that does give him an unfair advantage. But what can you do? I liked Joe, and his character was always written to be in conflict with himself.

Did you notice the new scene that they inserted in Duncan's fight with Grayson? Of a shadowy figure walking away? That was Joe. "I only saw the beginning. Looked like MacLeod was finished, and, uh, I didn't want to stick around and see it happen." Kinda neat that they added that scene.

Michael Christan was lame. He had a sword and Duncan didn't. And Duncan still beat him! That made me chuckle. I wonder what happened to Rita? The Watchers kill her?

This episode had quite a few clips from previous episodes. Almost a little bit like a clip show, but not quite. I still enjoyed it. It gave some more rich history about Duncan. I gave it an 8/10.

More 2024, Then 1995.

Warning: Spoilers
I've seen the first Highlander movie starring Christopher Lambert. Enjoyed it. This is my first time watching the TV-series adaptation and I've mostly enjoyed it until this episode. I kept looking at the episode date because it feels like a 2024 episode of television and had all the things I try to avoid in movies and TV shows written in the about the last six years. Please tell me an entertaining story. Don't feed me your agenda. Duncan is trained by an abrasive female Immortal in 1700s Mongolia. Why do writers force in their worldviews or desires in periods where they did not exist? Said trainer knees Duncan in his family jewels that creates pleasure and life. Why? She says to show him men's strength is also their weakness. What?! Barry Pepper plays basically the Norman Bates of Immortals and has an angry female Watcher who mentors, slaps and berates him. Duncan is mopey throughout the episode. The flashbacks have assisted suicide and more mopey Duncan and anti-Western world sentiments. I could have (and should have) skipped this episode and would have missed nothing important. At least, location after location is beautiful and Jim Byrnes turns in his best performance of the series so far as Dawson as he is torn between his loyalty to and friendship with Duncan and his oath to The Watchers.
